About Me

Muhammad Asif Khan is a Postdoc Research Fellow with the Electrical Engineering department at Qatar University, Doha, Qatar.

He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Qatar University (2019), M.Sc. in Telecommunication Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, Pakistan (2013), and B.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, Pakistan (2009). He is working as Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Qatar University, Doha, Qatar.

His research interests include mobile computing, intelligent networks, and distributed machine learning.

Context-Recognition in Crowd Monitoring using Crowdsourced Data

In this research, we aim to develop an efficient UAV-based crowd monitoring system that include sophisticated features such as context recognition and behavior analysis of people in dense crowds using images/videos collected from UAVs, and multi-modal data sources such as social media and check in data from airports, stadiums and other venues. Predictive QoE-Aware and ML for Secure Live Streaming Over the Edge

This project aims to propose a predictive Quality of Experience (QoE) aware and trust-worthy live streaming networks over the Edge to reduce viewers experienced buffering to access live streaming, add secrecy constraints on videos caching and offloading, securing data transmission and preventing illegal video circulation. D-COCODI: Framework for Cooperative Multimedia Multi-casting in Dense Environments

The project aimed at designing, implementing, and optimizing a novel scalable framework for cooperative multimedia multicasting in dense environments with a large number of smartphone users located in a given geographical area. This is particularly applicable to high density network scenarios such as delivering near real-time multimedia content to fans watching a soccer game in a stadium, or to participants attending a major conference in a large auditorium.
